License renewal in review 5 of these facilities show the status "In review" on their AHCA FloridaHealthFinder profile as of October 30, 2026. That is the state's listed status on the day we pulled the data; it usually means a license renewal is being processed. It is not a rating. Select the badge to open the AHCA profile and check the current status.

How we built this list. We pulled every facility in AHCA's assisted living directory for Palm Beach County, opened each state profile, and kept those with the status "Licensed" or "In review." Facilities shown as "In review" carry a License renewal in review label: that is the state's listed status on October 30, 2026, usually a renewal being processed, and the badge links to the AHCA profile. We then checked the facility-reported "Special Programs and Services" field. A facility that doesn't report memory care may still accept residents with mild dementia; ask. Mailing cities don't follow city limits. Statuses change, so confirm on FloridaHealthFinder; your advisor will too.

Among the 9 facilities reporting memory care above: 6 report 24-hour nurse availability, 1 hold an extended congregate care (ECC) license, and 5 hold a limited nursing services (LNS) license [1].

Florida's new memory care license: what it means for Mom

In May 2026, Florida enacted a law creating a memory care services license for assisted living facilities [2].

  • Who will need it: any assisted living facility that serves memory care residents or advertises memory care.
  • When: AHCA must adopt the rules by June 1, 2027. Facilities already licensed then have six months to get the new license.
  • What the rules must cover: admission criteria, minimum care and activities, staff training, physical space, contracts that spell out memory care services, and safety, including at least one awake staff member on duty at all hours.
  • Advertising: facilities without the license won't be able to use terms like "memory care" or "dementia care" in their advertising.

Until then, a facility that claims special care for people with Alzheimer's or related disorders must disclose, in its advertising or a separate document, the services that make that care special [3]. Ask for that document on every tour. It's the easiest way to compare programs side by side. More on the new license.

Questions to ask on a memory care tour

  • "May I have your written Alzheimer's care disclosure?" Compare what each program actually promises.
  • Training: what dementia training do caregivers get, and how often is it refreshed?
  • Nights: who is awake and on duty overnight, and how many residents are they responsible for?
  • Security and freedom: how are doors secured, and is there a safe outdoor space Mom can use on her own?
  • The daily rhythm: ask for this week's activity calendar, then watch whether it's happening.
  • Hard days: how does staff respond to agitation or sundowning, and when do they call family?
  • Limits: what needs would require a move, and which specialty licenses (ECC, LNS) does the facility hold?

Questions families ask about memory care in Boca Raton

Which assisted living facilities in Boca Raton offer memory care?

On October 30, 2026, 9 assisted living facilities with a Boca Raton mailing address and the state status "Licensed" or "In review" reported a memory care program on their FloridaHealthFinder profile. That's self-reported. Ask each one for its written Alzheimer's care disclosure, which Florida law requires of facilities that advertise special dementia care.

Does Florida license memory care?

Not yet, but it will. A 2026 law created a memory care services license for assisted living facilities. AHCA must adopt the rules by June 1, 2027, and existing facilities then have six months to get licensed. After that, facilities without the license can't advertise "memory care."

How much does memory care cost in Boca Raton?

CareScout's 2025 survey doesn't publish a memory care figure. Its closest benchmark, assisted living, had a monthly median of $5,617 in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach area. Memory care is often priced above standard assisted living, so get each community's written rate and care-level fees.

What does "License renewal in review" mean?

The facility's FloridaHealthFinder profile showed the status "In review" on October 30, 2026, usually a renewal being processed. It isn't a rating. Select the badge to open the AHCA profile and check the current status.

When is it time for memory care?

Families often start looking when safety becomes the worry: wandering, leaving the stove on, missed medications, or a caregiver who is exhausted. A doctor's evaluation helps. See signs of dementia and memory loss vs. normal aging.

What does a local advisor cost?

Nothing. A Move for Mom's help is at no cost to your family. Here's how we're paid.
